What is a load Cell Indicator ?
A load cell indicator — often referred to as a digital weight indicator or signal conditioner — is the computational heart of any force measurement or industrial weighing system.
While a load cell acts as a transducer to convert mechanical force into a weak electrical signal (typically in mV/V), the indicator is responsible for supplying the excitation voltage, amplifying the returning micro-signal, digitizing it through an A/D converter, and displaying it in readable engineering units (kg, kN, tons, or lbs).
Working Principle
The fundamental operation relies on precision signal conditioning. The indicator supplies a highly stable DC excitation voltage to the Wheatstone bridge circuit within the load cell. As force is applied, the bridge deforms slightly, returning a proportionate analog differential voltage.
